A week from today we begin our second year of home

A week from today we begin our second year of homeschool with a kindergartener and a preschooler ♥️ Can’t believe it!

I think one of the most exciting things while prepping for the new school year, besides shopping for supplies, has been picking out the curriculum. Although Naya doesn’t really need a curricula, I still decided to get her some workbooks because last year she wanted to work out of her own book just like her sister.

Mali’s Core Curriculum:
📌 Math level K masterbooks
📌 Foundations Phonics masterbooks
📌 More than Words (Religion) masterbooks
📌 Morning busy binder with FREE activity sheets from teacherspayteachers

Naya’s Core Curriculum:
📌 Toddler Jumbo Workbook scholasticinc
📌 Bible Lessons for Preschoolers (thrifted from goodwillindyin )

Loop Studies together:
📌 Science (DK Workbooks from amazon)
📌 Human Body from aldiusa
📌 Insects + Bugs from aldiusa
📌 The Ultimate Toddler Activity Book from amazon
📌 More Than Mud Pies (cooking + table manners) - gifted to me

Besides these, we have also purchased tons of small workbooks from dollartree that the girls can work in during the weekends to keep them busy.

I’m so excited to start already!! So are the girls!

Homeschool Morning Basket!

Our second year of homeschool is about to begin and honestly… I think I’m more excited than the kids lol 😆

Today, we’re prepping morning baskets which we failed at terribly last year. We started with some great activities but over time we got bored of the morning binders and ended up completely dropping the concept out of our routine… which unfortunately, led to a lot more screen time than I would’ve liked.

This year my hope is to swap out screen time in the mornings (except for tablets - keep reading for explanation) for chores + independent learning activities. And that’s where the morning basket comes into play.

Age appropriate things we plan on adding to the baskets (Jeremiah is actually getting his own too):

✅ Busy binder full activities they can do daily until they master them and then we’ll swap out the material

✅ Daily Calendar + weather sheet that will be swapped out daily

✅ Puzzles

✅ Sight words (specifically for Mali)

✅ Pictures books + step into reading books for Mali

✅ Coloring books + crayons

✅ Tablet which will only be used for (READ BELOW 👇🏻) during our 8-5 homeschool day
- Daily devotional on the Bible for Kids App. This app is amazing. We’ve been using it for well over a year. Each Bible story has questions within the story for them to answer and a fun activity for them to complete after they finish listening to story.

- ABC Mouse. We’ve incorporated this educational program since the beginning of last school year to aid in educating the kids. Let’s be real, some days are more exhausting than others and on those days we are not actively schooling them, they can learn while playing ABC Mouse.

COVER YOUR MAN IN DAILY PRAYER‼️

As wives + gatekeepers of our homes, we have to understand that the prayers + promises we speak over our husbands are vital to their role as heads of our families. When we don’t cover our husbands in prayer on a daily basis, we leave them susceptible to the enemies schemes against them.

Here are some prayer ideas for when you don’t know how to pray for your husband 👇🏻

🙏🏻 that his faith may to continue to flourish
🙏🏻 that he may be fortified in The Lord
🙏🏻 that all thoughts be held captive in obedience to God
🙏🏻 that no temptation come his way
🙏🏻 that he may be able to lead efficiently
🙏🏻 that his hunger for Christ may increase
🙏🏻 that he find guidance in the word of God

Praying + speaking life over your man is probably the most rewarding work you can do in your marriage and for your family.

We are the gatekeepers of our home.

We are the intercessors for our families.

We were called to stand in the gap for them.

Prayer is the most powerful tool we can use to protect + lift up our husbands. Let’s learn to put it to work and function as the help that God intended for us to be.
